Off-Season Hockey Conditioning- Ottawa West
Location: BELL SENSPLEX
One Week Camps (Players)- A complete full day camp that includes 4 hours of ice time, dryland conditioning, and hockey educational lectures will help get you ready for tryouts. Camps are available for age groups Peewee through Midget and use Long Term Athlete Development principals and progressions to ensure that each athlete is doing the drills and progressions suitable for their stage of development. A typical day on ice will consist of 1 hour of on ice acceleration and conditioning, 1 hour of flow, 1 hour of skills and 1 hour of 4 on 4 play to help translate the day’s learning into game situations. One Week Camps (Goalies) Player Acceleration - Using age and developmentally appropriate skating drills and progressions, built around the work and rest ratios common to hockey, players are challenged in all aspects of their skating. Small group work with 4-5 skaters per coach means that your child will receive individual attention and correction that is unmatched in other programs. Pre and post program on ice speed and agility testing will help athletes and parents gauge their improvement and assess strengths and weaknesses. Player SAA (Speed/Acceleration/Agility) - Using cutting edge training techniques like overspeed training, post activation potentiation, assisted and resisted sprinting and anaerobic alactic conditioning this session is designed to improve first step quickness, acceleration, top end speed and speed endurance. By employing equipment typically used in dryland sessions, speed chutes, hurdles etc., on the ice we are able to continually change up the stimulus the athlete receives and ensure their continued progress. On ice speed and agility testing will be done in the first session and repeated at the end of the program so that athletes can see how much they have improved. Player Puck Skills and Tactics - High level hockey is built on a solid foundation of the fundamental skills of shooting, passing, scoring, and puck control. The Peak Skills program emphasizes puck skills. Using small group station methods of teaching this weekly program allows an athlete to maximize the time they spend executing each skill and allows them to progress at a pace that is appropriate for their level of maturity and development. Puck agility, scoring, shooting and passing are integrated with skating skills for complete athlete development.Novice/Atom
