Novice/ Atom

The Novice/ Atom program is designed to help young athletes develop skills in athletic movements, motor patterns and enhance their performance in any sport. Developing athleticism, strength, speed, and body awareness is key to long term sporting success. This program is held on Mondays and/or Wednesdays on the Field at the Bell-Sensplex under strict supervision of qualified strength and conditioning coaches. The fun and positive environment will ensure that young athletes enjoy themselves and also develop the technical movements required to further excel in sport.

Peewee   

 The Peewee program is designed to build upon the athleticism that has already been developed at this age. The emphasis is placed on fundamental movement patterns that will enable the athlete to excel in hockey and other sports. As players are growing rapidly at this age, it is important to continue working on the strength, flexibility, speed, balance and technical training fundamentals that will prepare the athlete for the next phases of training. The program is supervised by Peak Centre strength and conditioning coaches Mondays and Wednesdays between 6-8pm.

Bantam

The Bantam program is designed to introduce the athlete to the Peak Centre training and assessment methods that will further enhance their development in the sport of hockey. Each player undergoes testing that includes height, weight, flexibility, body composition, strength and power testing, maximal aerobic capacity, as well as movement screening that assesses their individual strengths and weaknesses. A personalized program is created for each player taking into account the results from their assessment. The program is supervised daily during allotted times in the Peak Centre facility, and Field training is performed on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Bell-sensplex Fieldhouse

Female Elite:

Female Hockey players have specific physical demands that must be taken into consideration during a strength and conditioning program for hockey. At the Peak Centre, Individual strengths and weaknesses are assessed through a series of tests that determine where the player must focus their attention in the off-season. It is imerative that players are gaining strength and power in a positive, supportive, and supervised environment that will maximize returns on training. Female athletes follow their own individualized training program at flexible training times daily under the supervision of Peak Centre strength and conditioning coaches. In addition, field training is included on Mondays and Wednesdays between 6-8pm in specialized female training atmosphere.

Draft Year /Midget Prep./ Junior Prep./ Junior Elite

As players enter into higher levels of hockey, the physical demands of playing at the next level are evident. Developing the proper strength, flexibility, power, and energy systems are critical to enhanced performance. At this level, players will learn to train with intensity, structure, and purpose. These programs include pre and post tests used in the NHL Central Draft, NCAA, OHL, and NHL training Camps. Monthly individualized programs are designed to improve strength, power, endurance, and flexibility. The athlete will develop the physical characteristics that will maximize their chances of taking their game to the next level. Training is performed in both the Peak Centre facility during allotted times and the fieldhouse at the Bell-sensplex

Junior / Elite:

At the Junior A, OHL, NCAA, and Pro levels, players are subject to increased strength coach supervision, programming, intensity, and guidance. This program is designed to provide the player with an all-encompassing training package that will enable the player to maximize physical gains over the off-season. All programs are individualized based on a battery of tests that are used in the NHL Central Draft, and incorporate the latest science and research to ensure player's training is up to date and evidence-based. Player's will receive extra attention through specialized training times, additional workouts (sand pit, hill etc...), and increased supervision and consultation. At the Peak Centre, we are confident that we can facilitate bringing players at an already high level to the next tier in their development.
