Swim Program

The PEAK Triathlon Swim Program has been designed to offer many unique characteristics which are in align with the testing, training and coaching philosophy that is already evident with the existing PEAK Centre sport specific programs.

The PEAK Centre program consists of three important and sequential blocks each with an emphasis in development. To review or register simply click either logo below.

(Click icon to register) Block #1- Technical development and base conditioning -  The technical phase of the program is important in establishing postional awareness. technique correction, and to reduce injury potential from improper swim mechanics. This phase is important in establishing the base upon which all training will be focused.

(Click icon to register) Block #2- Technical refinement and conditioning -  Building upon Block #1, Block #2 has an emphasis on refining techical elements at higher intensities of training, implementation of intensity specific sets, as well as continue to develop and then maintain the base development completed in Block #1.

Block #3 - Race preparation and completion- During the race season, we implement in 2 pool swims per week to ensure technical compliance and specific intensity completion in a controlled setting. Also, race pace and race preparation are completed to ensure you are ready for race day.  

Program details:

  • Suitable for beginners to elite (proper lane designation)
  • 4 morning group training sessions per week (Mon, Wed, Fri (6:00-7:00 AM), Sat (7:30-9:00 AM)
  • 1.0 and 1.5 hr sessions
  • Periodized training plan with seasonal focuses on technique, training and racing
  • Open-water swim sessions in the summer months
  • Sessions completed from Plant (930 Somerset St) and Champagne Pool (321 King Edward).

Clients need not be registered into the PEAK Centre Triathlon Program to register for the Triathlon Swim Program. Individuals who are registered into the Triathlon Program however, will receive priority in registration.

 
Race day should not be left to chance; preparation is the only way to ensure success. 
 

 Coaches/Trainers 

Kevin Penny 

Kevin has been part of the PEAK Centre Swim Program for over 6 years as an athlete and as a coach. As an avid triathlete, Kevin brings with him a wealth of experience. Having been exposed to other programs in the past, Kevin knows first hand the lack f proper instruction and guidance most programs offer. Swim training is more than a workout on the board. It is a process of instruction, correction, and development. The PEAK Centre Triathlon Swim Program has been designed to optimize training time, and maximize training results.
